About the Role:
We are currently looking for a dynamic Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our R&D Team.
The Principal Mechanical Design engineer will be responsible for performing design and analysis to support research and development of our products. The Principal Engineer will lead concept phase, design activities, reviews and report design’s progress. Assignments are broad in nature, requiring appreciable initiative, originality, ingenuity and excellent problem solving skills. The ideal candidate will have love for technology, excellent analysis skills, advanced mechanical engineering experience and a good understanding of complicated appliances. This role is part of an Advanced Development team focused on the longer term, strategic concepts and designs that are required for the company’s future products.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Complete ownership of mechanical design
Research design options and perform experiments to determine potential design feasibility or application.
Construct prototypes; evaluate and document their performance; identify possible improvements
Specify, design and evaluate mechanical and electromechanical portions of systems and components.
Lead implementation of suitable tests to verify designs meet mechanical requirement
Responsible for design/development activities which will include leading, participating in, coordinating or supporting:
-Concept, planning, design and execution stages
-Verification & Validation
Be a technical leader for major product development projects and ensure that design activities are coordinated as per the project needs.
Prepare technical reports, product documentation and do patent drafting support.
Assist in the creation and release of Product Requirements, Design Specifications, and Design Descriptions for assigned designs, applicable standards and procedures.
Provide technical support for Production ramp-up as and when required.
Experience & Qualifications:
PhD/Masters Degree (full-time) in Mechanical Engineering.
15+ years related engineering experience
3-5 years experience as Principal engineer
Must have Hands-on experience constructing complicated mechanical prototypes utilizing rapid-prototyping methods and equipment
High degree of comfort with ambiguity in early-phase investigative projects
Should be very well versed with 2D and 3D CAD modeling softwares.
Working understanding of sensors and electronics
Should have good knowledge of - Mechanical part design and production limitations for: injection moulded plastic, die cast metal, rubber and sheet metal stamping.
Experience estimating the effort to reach phase milestones and coordinating the team activities to meet schedules and goals
Outgoing personality with a strong desire to provide mentorship within the organization
Is a self-starter, can manage multiple tasks, and work with minimal supervision
Demonstrated experience in successful project management including defining projects, scheduling, and costing.
Experience in working with cross functional teams.
